Resources for Transgender Awareness Week
Today is the beginning of Transgender Awareness Week, which culminates in Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20. CNP offers a variety of resources for anyone seeking to better support transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse individuals.
Liturgical Resources
A new resource from Unbound: The Intersections of Faith and Justice offers reflections for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany from transgender theologians, ministers and faith leaders.
Reaffirmation of Baptism with Chosen Name
The Rev. Marci Auld Glass, CNP Board Member and Pastor at Calvary Presbyterian Church in San Francisco, published this liturgy for transgender individuals to publicly reaffirm their baptismal promises with their chosen names.
This blessing by the Rev. TJ Remaley, one of the co-moderators of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, is available for all congregations seeking to recognize Transgender Day of Visibility and may be adapted for other occasions, such as Transgender Day of Remembrance.
At Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago, CNP Co-Moderator Slats Toole drew from Matthew 13:54–58 and personal testimony to explore how God’s love transcends binaries.
Published by The Hymn Society in the U.S. and Canada, this collection includes hymns by CNP staff and others specifically uplifting gender-diverse experiences.

Interfaith Statement, 11/12/25
Nine heads of major American religious traditions, including the Rev. Jihyun Oh, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the PCUSA, have signed a landmark interfaith statement affirming that transgender, intersex and nonbinary individuals are holy, beloved children of God who deserve respect, love and equal rights.
“You are holy. You are sacred. We love you. We support you, and we will protect you.”
Statement from CNP’s Board of Directors
In response to federal government actions affecting transgender and non-binary persons, CNP’s Board issued a statement that reads in part:
“The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), through its clear and unanimous resolution in 2018, has already explicitly condemned all of these actions, and the Covenant Network of Presbyterians wholeheartedly affirms that this denomination must continue—today more than ever before—to stand up for the rights and dignity of people of all gender identities.”
This action by the 223rd General Assembly (2018) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) was approved with unanimous consent.
“Standing in the conviction that all people are created in the image of God and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is good news for all people, the 223rd General Assembly affirms its commitment to the full welcome, acceptance, and inclusion of transgender people, people who identify as gender non-binary, and people of all gender identities within the full life of the church and the world.”
