Welcoming New Board Member Alex Vaiz

This is an active season in the life of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians as we continue projects from last year and begin working on new ideas to transform the Church. This week, our Board of Directors will convene to elect our new co-moderators, greet new members and update one another on ongoing projects. As we welcome our new members of the Board, we are excited to introduce you to the Rev. Alex Vaiz.Alex Vaiz is a third generation pastor serving in ministry since 1990, when he started as a youth pastor in Los Angeles, CA. Five years later, after graduating from Bible college, he married his wife Liz and took a senior pastor in the Fresno area. There, he pastored and advocated for a Latin American immigrant congregation. In 2001, he transitioned to a pastorate in Sacramento, and planted a church with his wife in 2008. Now he’s co-planting once again with his wife at a New Worshipping Community named Casas De Paz/Houses of Peace. This bilingual community utilizes the house church model, partnering with PCUSA’s 1001 New Worshipping Communities, NCCP and Northminster Presbyterian Church. Currently, Alex is pursuing ordination to Ministry of Word and Sacrament in the PC(USA) to serve his presbytery in an even greater capacity. He has been married to Liz Vaiz for 27 years, and they have three wonderful sons. His favorite scripture is concerned with justice: “He has told you, O mortal, what is good, and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?”With Alex's depth of experience and varied skills, we couldn't be more grateful for his leadership on our Board.
