Our Programs
CNP's mission comes to life through a set of ongoing programs — not just a single campaign or a season of advocacy, but sustained work of engaging, educating, and equipping the church. Below is a snapshot of what we're currently doing. For the latest news and updates, visit our News & Updates page.
Covenant Conversations
Covenant Conversations are regional gatherings that bring Presbyterians together — in worship, learning, fellowship, and honest conversation — to help congregations and individuals take their next step toward a fuller welcome of LGBTQIA+ people. Each Covenant Conversation offers biblical and theological grounding alongside practical, ministry-tested support. We hold several of these around the country each year, in partnership with hosting congregations and presbyteries who want to deepen this work locally.
Covenant Fellows
Covenant Fellows is our nine-month program for emerging PC(USA) leaders — seminary students and recent graduates — who are committed to widening the church's welcome for LGBTQIA+ people. The Fellows begin with an orienting retreat as a launching pad for the program, in which they take part in monthly virtual seminars, receive mentorship from experienced advocates, lead local advocacy projects, and participate in Covenant Conversations across the country. It's one of the ways CNP invests directly in the next generation of inclusive church leadership.
The Covenant Conference
Earlier in our organization’s history, one of the cornerstones of our work was our biennial national conference — part educational event, part family reunion, part rallying cry for justice. In 2027, we return to Chicago to mark thirty years since CNP's founding, gathering where it all began for keynote speakers, worship, fellowship, and workshops centered on the church's continuing call to full inclusion.
General Assembly Advocacy
Every two years, CNP brings its voice to the PC(USA)'s General Assembly, offering theological grounding and practical recommendations on the overtures and business most connected to LGBTQIA+ inclusion. Between Assemblies, we track denominational developments, help congregations understand what's changed (like recent amendments to the Book of Order), and equip commissioners and church members alike to engage this work faithfully.
Resource Library
Our Resource Library is a growing collection of liturgy, sermons, prayers, toolkits, and educational material — built by and for congregations doing this work. Whether you're looking for a prayer for Transgender Day of Visibility, an advocacy toolkit for your session, or a theological primer on queer inclusion in Scripture, it's designed to be used, adapted, and shared.
Congregational Network
CNP connects a national network of affiliating congregations — churches whose sessions have affirmed our Call to Covenant Community and committed to generous, faithful, LGBTQIA+-inclusive ministry. Through this network we also connect LGBTQIA+ candidates and ministers with congregations actively seeking pastors who share that vision, and help congregations discern what it means to affiliate.
